Well Woman Physio is based at Sicklinghall Cricket Club Pavilion, Kirkby Lane, Sicklinghall, LS22 4BH. There’s free parking on site. If you have a question about getting into the clinic or would like to talk through access before visiting, please get in touch.
We’ll talk through your symptoms, health history and what matters most to you. I’ll then suggest an assessment that fits your concerns. This may include looking at how you move, testing strength or examining a painful area. I’ll explain what I find and we’ll agree on a plan together. There will be time to ask questions, and you should leave knowing what to focus on next.
Wear something comfortable that you can move in. Gym wear is a good option, but not essential. If you’re coming about a knee or hip problem, shorts or trousers that roll up easily can be helpful. For a shoulder, neck or upper back concern, a vest top can make assessment easier.
You don’t need to bring anything special. If you have relevant letters, scan reports or a list of medication, you’re welcome to bring them. It can also help to think about what you most want to get back to doing — whether that’s walking the dog, running, lifting your child or getting through the day with less pain.
Exercise-based rehabilitation may help improve function, strength and confidence following diastasis recti.
Yes. You’re welcome to bring a partner, friend or family member into the appointment if that would help you feel more comfortable. You can choose whether you’d like them to stay for all or just part of it.
Yes. There’s plenty of room at the cricket club for someone accompanying you to sit comfortably while you have your appointment. Cow Corner Café is currently open on Fridays if they’d prefer to get a drink while they wait. As the café runs separately, it’s best to check its opening hours before relying on it.
No. You can book directly with me. If your assessment suggests that another clinician or further investigation would be helpful, I’ll explain why and discuss the next steps with you.
If your main concern is bladder leakage, prolapse symptoms, pelvic floor function or recovery after birth, choose a pelvic health appointment. For back pain, joint pain, tendon problems, injury or rehabilitation after surgery, choose an initial physiotherapy appointment. If your concerns overlap, or you’re simply unsure, please contact me and I’ll help you choose.
Yes. Online appointments can be useful if you can’t get to the clinic, live further away or would prefer advice and a rehabilitation plan from home. We can discuss your symptoms, look at movements where appropriate and build a plan together. If I think an in-person assessment would be more useful for your particular concern, I’ll tell you.
That depends on your symptoms, goals and how things progress. At your first appointment, we’ll discuss what you can work on independently and whether a follow-up or package of follow ups would be useful.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy helps with problems affecting muscles, joints, tendons, nerves and movement. You may have heard it called MSK physio. Whether you’re dealing with persistent back pain, a painful shoulder or an injury that’s stopping you doing what you enjoy, we’ll work out what may be contributing and build a practical plan around your goals.
Yes. I can assess back, pelvic girdle and other muscle or joint pain during pregnancy. We’ll discuss what you’re finding difficult and find ways to keep you moving as comfortably and confidently as possible.
Pelvic health physiotherapy looks at concerns involving the pelvic floor, bladder, bowel, abdominal wall and surrounding muscles. It can help you understand symptoms such as leakage, urgency, heaviness, pain or changes after pregnancy and birth. An appointment is about more than being given pelvic floor exercises. At Well Woman Physio, we take a whole-body approach. We’ll consider your symptoms, daily activities, movement and goals before deciding what might help.
No. An internal examination is always optional. In some circumstances it can give us useful information, but I’ll explain why I’m suggesting it and what it involves before you decide. You can decline or stop an examination at any point, and we can still work on a plan together.
Yes. I assess bladder leakage, urgency and symptoms such as vaginal heaviness or a bulge. Treatment depends on what’s contributing to your symptoms. It may include pelvic floor muscle training, advice about bladder habits, strength and movement work, and ways to manage the activities that bring on symptoms.
It’s never “too late” to get help with symptoms that have continued for months or years after birth. Some women come when their kids are grown and still make changes!
Yes. We can look at your current symptoms, strength, movement and exercise goals, then plan a gradual return. That applies whether you’re aiming for your first run, getting back to the gym or trying to exercise without bladder leakage or pelvic heaviness.

This comprehensive pelvic health appointment is designed for women experiencing a range of concerns, including pelvic floor weakness, diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation often occurring after pregnancy), back pain, and hip pain. We’ll assess your posture, breathing patterns, core strength, and movement mechanics, often using external techniques. Depending on your specific needs and symptoms, an internal examination may be beneficial for a more thorough evaluation. We’ll discuss this possibility with you, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. Together, we’ll create a personalised plan involving exercises, manual therapy, and lifestyle advice to improve your function, reduce pain, and enhance your overall well-being.

We understand that some pain conditions are complex and require a more in-depth approach. To ensure we can thoroughly assess your needs and provide the best possible care, we recommend booking a complex initial consultation if you have multiple areas of pain, or if your pain has been longstanding or has a complex history. This will allow us to listen carefully and understand your unique situation. While a standard initial consultation may be sufficient for some, a complex consultation helps us avoid needing a second appointment and ensures we can address all your concerns from the start.
